Bellefontaine Immaculate Heart of Mary

New and Updated Website

March 21, 2004
After months of work and several delays, my son and I are happy to announce that this website is now up and online.  It is not perfect and there are a few bugs and many features that we still need to work on but all of the functions that we wanted are working.  I hope you use and enjoy this website.  It seems fitting this website is coming on line almost 25 years exactly after the graduating of the last class in 1979.  I hope to hear from you.

Sadly, Jack passed away in October 2019 and one of his wishes was for the site to keep going.  Shortly after taking over the website, Mike was letting me know he was experiencing some issues.  The site was built in 2004.  The technology that ran the website was no longer supported and so the website was generating errors.  I mean it was 2004.  We were still using Windows XP, Facebook was only launched 1 month prior to Bellefontaine being launch and the original iPhone wouldn’t even be launched for another 3 years.

Mike,
So I have good and bad news…
GOOD: I figured out why the website isn’t working….
BAD: It’s gonna take forever to fix.
The long and short of it is that I wrote this website back when I was in college (2004) — and the codebase has never been updated since. So its basically not compatible with any of the modern web technologies because its 15+ years old. We have 2 choices: leave the site as is and just retrofit the code — OR — we can move the website to a new modern platform — a lot of the content might not migrate over; BUT it would be simpler to use/maintain.  I had been trying to get dad to opt for the new platform for the last couple years before he got sick, but it never went anywhere because he did not want to lose content/functionality.

Development started on the new website – 16 years to the day and totally unplanned

So we hope you enjoy the new website and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
