Fr Mike S. saying thank you

For whatever reason and i forget but Fr Mike use to charge us a fee of some kind but whatever it was at the end he would say I thank you & Mother Theresa thanks you too.

I forget what we did that he got the $1.00 or $2.00 for but this was rather interesting.

Discovery week

Yes i do remember discovery week, i remember meeting Fr Ed for the first time, as well as Mike Whitehouse and Larry C,

I remember it very well it was alot of fun and the experience was great.

More on the dorm

Our beds had to be made perfectly, and if they didnt pass Father Mike S, then we did it over til we got it right,

As well as everything being tip top and meeting Father Mike S, expectations,

I have to admit and laugh about it now i always had a hard time making the bed the right way, so i had to pay one of my buddies whose name i wont mention 25 cents and he made the bed for me, it seems so funny now, i have to laugh.

Singing during services

How we use to practice with Fr Mike S,
and the songs, Shout from the highest
mountain, as well as singing the our father and learning it in latin. And many many other songs, which i will add to the memories when i remember them.

THE TV ROOM

During my second year at IHM i do remember that there were 2 TV Rooms.
The one was just for the seniors and the other was for everyone,

When never had any problem getting along with what was on tv and whatever was on everyone enjoyed it together as a family which is what we were.

We watched all sorts of different programs as well as i can remember even getting a few brief minutes in the morning break that we had, even if it was for a few minutes i enjoyed it along with everyone else.

The attention the dog got

I remember Fr Burns and the dog he had, Shanty, oh my goodness the attention that this dog got from everyone, Everyone loved Shanty.

Going into town after classes ended

Who could forget that after the last classs, when there was no work period we would change clothes and sign out in Fr Mike’s Book in the dorm to let him know we left and went into town,

The walk was long, however it was fun because we did it together whether it was 2 of us or 5 or 6 of us,

Also i can remember being picked up along the way and they would give us a ride or sometimes when thumbed it and we got picked up, it was ok it was fun.
The people were nice to us when went into town.

The middle of the day and announcements

We had prayer service just before lunchbreak as well as any announcements that Fr Mike had.

The one thing which was always exciting after at the same time, the mail would be passed out, and i always looked for that special letter to me from mom & dad, or from my Aunt who also wrote to me and another friend who was a friend of the family who would also write to me and we wrote back and forth.

The old wing

Sometimes i use to think i could get lost in the place, does everyone remember the old wing library and the fireplace, and then i think it was during halloween time they turn the lights off and read us ghost stories, or what fun it was.

Work Period

Never can forget those days of work period, one year i was always assigned the same detail, while the next year it varied from work period to work period.

Sometimes it went real fast, while other times i was a work period long boring and drawn out.
